The AMS Leroy P. Steele Prize for Mathematical Exposition is awarded annually for a book or substantial survey or expository research paper. Lawrence C. Evans has received the Leroy P. Steele Prize for Mathematical Exposition for his book Partial Differential Equations, published by the American Mathematical Society, Providence, RI, 1998 (first edition) and 2010 (second edition).

Professor Emeritus Nikolai Reshetikhin won the 2022 Weyl-Wigner Award, which recognizes outstanding contributions to the understanding of physics through group theory: The Weyl-Wigner Award.

Thirty-nine mathematical scientists from around the world have been named Fellows of the American Mathematical Society (AMS) for 2023, the program's eleventh year.

The Department of Mathematics congratulates Professor Yunqing Tang for receiving the 2022 SASTRA Ramanujan prize. According with the SASTRA Ramanujan press release,

This annual $10,000 prize is for outstanding contributions by individuals not exceeding the age of 32 in areas of mathematics influenced by Ramanujan in a broad sense. The age limit has been set at 32 because Ramanujan achieved so much in his brief life of 32 years.

Announcement of Winners of the 82nd Putnam Competition The William Lowell Putnam Mathematical Competition is the preeminent mathematics competition for undergraduate college students in the United States and Canada. The competition consists of two 3-hour sessions, during each session, participants work individually on 6 challenging mathematical problems.

The Ciprian Foias Prize in Operator Theory is awarded for notable work in Operator Theory published during the preceding six years. The work must be published in a recognized, peer-reviewed venue.

The Mathematics Department congratulates Professor Lin Lin recipient of a Simons Investigator award.

Each year, the Simons Foundation requests nominations from a targeted list of institutions in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Ireland for the Simons Investigator programs. Simons Investigators are outstanding theoretical scientists who receive a stable base of research support from the foundation, enabling them to undertake the long-term study of fundamental questions.
