The MGB-SIAM Early Career Fellowship reflects a joint commitment by Mathematically Gifted & Black (MGB) and SIAM to promote long-term engagement of fellows within SIAM and continued success within the wider applied mathematics and computational sciences community. This program recognizes the achievements of early career applied mathematicians – especially those belonging to racial and ethnic groups historically excluded from the mathematical sciences in the United States – and provides professional activities and career development.

Professor Emeritus Nikolai Reshetikhin won the 2022 Weyl-Wigner Award, which recognizes outstanding contributions to the understanding of physics through group theory: The Weyl-Wigner Award.
The Department of Mathematics congratulates Professor Yunqing Tang for receiving the 2022 SASTRA Ramanujan prize. According with the SASTRA Ramanujan press release,
This annual $10,000 prize is for outstanding contributions by individuals not exceeding the age of 32 in areas of mathematics influenced by Ramanujan in a broad sense. The age limit has been set at 32 because Ramanujan achieved so much in his brief life of 32 years.
